About The Host(s)

Mary Hernandez
West Texas has always been home to Mary. Born in Cochran County and raised in Floyd County, she moved to Lubbock in 1988 to begin her career in law enforcement. After serving the community for 25 years with the Lubbock Police Department, Mary retired from law enforcement.
For Mary, Lubbock County is more than a place to live. It is home and a community she is still committed to serving and strengthening for future generations. It is where she and her husband have raised their child and now, where their grandchildren are being raised too.
After running for local office twice, first in 2024 and again in 2026, Mary has gained a deeper understanding of the many legitimate concerns shared by people from all parts of the community. These experiences reinforced her belief that every voice matters and that meaningful progress begins by listening to and understanding one another.
Mary believes that serving her community is about more than holding a position. It is about showing up, listening, and working alongside others to make a lasting difference. Whether through volunteer work, community involvement, or public service, she is committed to strengthening Lubbock County for today's families and future generations.
